The KIPON BAVEYES CINE Expander 1.25x is designed to enlarge the image of PL mounted Angenieux and other cine zoom lenses. The image circle of the lens can be up to 38.4mm in diameter and will be expanded up to 48mm max. The main purpose of this expander is to enlarge the image circle of older zoom lenses to cover modern S35 sensors (open gate) such as the ARRI S35 camera.
The optical design consists of 5 lenses in 4 groups, using optical glass with high light transmission and an element of lanthanum flint glass with ultra-high refractive index, resulting in optimum performance for professional zoom lenses.
According to the laws of optics, the light loss of the 1.25x expander is approx. 2/3 of an aperture. The adapter lets light through up to an aperture of f2. The use of lenses with higher apertures can lead to image aberrations and overexposure.
During the design process, care was taken to largely preserve the character of the lenses used and to ensure the greatest possible compatibility. With a max. immersion depth of 17.5mm (PL mount), the 1.25x Expander is compatible with a wide range of cine zoom lenses.
